MAXing out the 737
Service and passenger experience on Virgin Australia’s 737 MAX 10
When Virgin Australia takes its newly-announced stretched Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft, that could mean 20-26 more seats than the MAX 8 that will replace its 737-800 NG aircraft – or Virgin could elect to create a premiumheavy version that it could use for its transcontinental flights. The MAX 10 has developed in some crucial ways since its unveiling at the 2017 Paris Airshow, so let’s delve right in and see what it means for Virgin, and its passengers.
In terms of legs, the 737 MAX 10 has a slightly shorter range than the 737 MAX 8, but Boeing’s updated cited 3,300nm range using one auxiliary tank on the MAX 10 exceeds the current-generation 737-800’s range in any case.
