The View from Above
Living in the Age of Airplanes
When film-maker Brian Terwilliger’s first feature, ‘One Six Right’, rose to prominence in 2005, it was met with passionate support by the aviation community. For beyond the incredible footage, poignant interviews and stirring soundtrack was a deeper message – the fact that general aviation has a valuable place in our community.
When Terwilliger set his sights on a new project, he realised that there was an even greater message that was going unheeded by the broader community. We were all born into the age of aeroplanes and as such had grown to accept and expect all that goes with the forgotten miracle of flight. The golden era when we hoisted the likes of Lindbergh onto our shoulders has passed and given way to a time when aeroplanes are seemingly more a source of frustration if queues are too long and delays imposing on our plans. Terwilliger was determined to “neutralise the negative” by reminding the world of the miracle and ‘Living in the Age of Airplanes’ was born.
