Deconstructing some aviation expressions
The flying fraternity, like most industries, has over the years developed a series of expressions that relate to the operation of aircraft. While there are a lot around the following are a few that easily come to mind, sometimes because we hear them so often, touching on the cautious or even dangerous side of flying an aircraft.
Let’s give it a go.
How many times have you heard that one? Usually away from the cloistered environment of the flight school or ops desk. The pilot is talking about the weather, the strip length, the cloud base, the destination, the last light etc. This is a dangerous attitude in that there is an unplanned unknown.
