Rotor Rescue Reform
Toll was announced to replace incumbent contractor CHC.
Contracts have been confirmed for a new rotary-wing aeromedical retrieval network for New South Wales, encompassing the Australian Capital Territory, to standardise and bolster rescue helicopter operations as the state’s health system anticipates a 23 per cent increase in demand for helicopter retrieval missions by 2022.
The result of a strategic review of NSW Ambulance (NSWA) rotarywing operations, NSW Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Jillian Skinner MP, announced two, 10-year plus fiveyear contracts on December 19 2014 for a northern and southern region network to become fully operational from early 2017.
