Basing safety on evidence
There’s plenty of evidence for the need for change, but no action
Distance always adds perspective and it was refreshing during a recent visit to New Zealand to see a regulator (the NZ CAA), industry and training developers all focused on the importance of basing decisions and safety programs on evidence.
The Aviation New Zealand conference in Wellington highlighted the very professional approach to safety by all sectors, including aerial application, and underscored the very real differences in two similar countries in the approach and attitude of the aviation safety regulator.
