ELT issues and being prepared
The ATSB recently released its Aviation Short Investigation Bulletin – Issue 12. The bulletin covers a number of recent accidents and events and their probable causes.
Contained within the bulletin was a report on an accident involving the crash of a Cessna 182 after take-off in outback Queensland. Following the accident, in which the aircraft was destroyed, the pilot found himself out of the aircraft and unable to stand. He was the sole occupant. The aircraft came to rest inverted. It was subsequently found that water in the fuel was the most likely cause of the engine failure. The pilot, who was seriously injured, was found three hours after the event.
