Red Flag puts RAAF’s 37 and 4 Squadrons to the test
RAAF aircrews from 37 Squadron and combat controllers from 4 Squadron have recently returned from participating in Red Flag 11-3, bringing back with them invaluable experience in exercising in a high value training environment incorporating realistic threats and complex coalition missions.
The Red Flag exercises are planned and run by the US Air Force’s 414th Combat Training Squadron from Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, with ‘Red Force’ enemy forces including F-16 and F-15 (64th and 65th aggressor squadrons ), and simulated surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft artillery systems, providing a highly realistic training environment for visiting ‘Blue Force’ units from US and invited allied nations.
