An Echo from the past
Tecnam P92 Eaglet
The origins of the Eaglet sit squarely on the shoulders of Tecnam’s enduring trainer, the P92 Echo. While the Echo had served its customers well since 1993, Tecnam recognised the need to continue to build upon the solid base the aircraft had laid. The ‘classic’ Echo was a no-nonsense aeroplane from the outset with impressive performance and an airframe that suggested it was built for work. A high-winged, single engined trainer in the style of the Cessna 152, the original P92 Classic’s lines were efficient but not overly flattering.
It was quite square in nature with a narrow aft fuselage and a large fin and rudder. Still there was no denying the aircraft’s ability to uplift two generously dimensioned men with the use of minimal runway.
