The latest and largest member of the Boeing 737 family, the 177 seat stretched Next Generation 737-900, Series 990 N737X c/n 30017, had its 2hr 58min maiden flight from Renton Municipal Airport, Washington followed by a landing at Boeing Field on August 3, flown by captains Mike Carriker and Mark Feuerstein. This aircraft will be ultimately delivered to launch customer Alaska Airlines as N671AS in April 2001. The airline ordered 10 737-900s in November 1997 followed by one additional aircraft on December 23 1999.
