CTAFs are gone
CTAFs are gone, NTAs are in. That was the word at a seminar held by CASA at Griffith, NSW, on April 23. And what are NTAs you may well ask. They are non-towered aerodromes, previously known as CTAF airports.
The seminar was one of several held during the annual national fly-in of the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia. It was probably the first CASA seminar at which the mechanics of the recently released CAAP 166-1(0) and CAAP 166-2(0) were discussed. A CAAP is a Civil Aviation Advisory Publication. The subject CAAPs are to become effective on June 3 2010 and are advisory publications for operations at NTAs.
