GAAP changes with more to come
Mid-air collisions and runway incursions are a hot topic with CASA at present but it came as a surprise to most when a CASA media release of July 15 advised immediate changes to take place at the Australian General Aviation Aerodrome Procedures (GAAP) aerodromes.
The new changes are to affect Archerfield, Bankstown, Camden, Jandakot, Moorabbin and Parafield aerodromes. Effective July 21 the directions required that there be a limit of six aircraft in the circuit pattern for one runway, controlled by one controller. If there were two runways and two controllers available then a total of twelve aircraft would be allowed to operate. An additional departure may be allowed at the discretion of the controller, safety allowing.
