Implications of the Multi-crew Pilot Licence
CASA has flagged its intention to develop regulations to introduce a multi-crew pilot licence (MPL). The licence would be issued to people who train specifically to become a first officer in a turbine powered aircraft air transport operation.
As detailed in Owen Zupp’s feature on the MPL (from page 50 of this issue), the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has developed the concept and Australia and other countries are following this lead by developing their own standards, based on the ICAO minimum standard.
