Future Air Traffic Controllers In Good Hands
Air Traffic Services in Australia are undergoing a “quiet revolution”, according to staff of the Civil Aviation Authority’s ATS training facility in Tasmania.
Established in early 1989, the centre for Air Traffic Services has already established a good reputation, with positive feedback from industry sources.
Situated on the University of Tasmania’s Launceston campus, the centre provides graduates with a Diploma in Applied Science in Air Traffic Services after an intensive two year course. The facility has taken over training of ATC and FIS personnel from the CAl(s Central Training College at Melbourne, and aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the aviation industry as well as specific ATS education.
