Jetstar NZ adds aircraft, capacity
Jetstar will add a ninth A320 aircraft to its New Zealand fleet as it boosts domestic and trans-Tasman capacity.
The Qantas subsidiary said it will add up to 20 additional weekly flight between Wellington and Auckland and up to seven extra flights from Christchurch to Wellington and Auckland. An extra weekly flight from Queenstown to Sydney and Melbourne will also be added.
However, Jetstar will cut its five weekly flights between Christchurch and Queenstown and will cut back flights between Christchurch, the Gold Coast and Melbourne. The airline said it was cutting the Christchurch-Queenstown services because customers were now flying directly into Queenstown.
The changes are due to take effect on November 15. Jetstar said the addition of the new aircraft would help create 50 new jobs.
