The new deal brings Virgin’s codesharing partners to six: Qatar Airways, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, ANA, and Air Canada. In a LinkedIn post, Virgin said the codeshare would allow “seamless travel” between Australia and Canada.

Qantas’s High Court appeal over the outsourcing of around 1,700 ground workers kicks off today, with the airline set to argue employees did not have the right to take protected industrial action (PIA) at the time the decision was made.

Hudson, currently CFO of Qantas, will receive a base annual salary of $1.6 million when she takes over from Joyce in November, which is $600,000 less than Joyce’s current base salary of $2.2 million. She will be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, which would bring her total pay up to $5.8 million – still well shy of Joyce’s total $8.4 million remuneration.
