NJE is operating six Perth–Ravensthorpe charter flights per week using 104-seat Embraer E190 jets, which commenced on 15 December, less than two weeks after it signed the contract with FQM Australia Nickel and Allkem.
The new online portal will be used by up to 600 organisations, including airports, air traffic control and those involved in flight planning.
The funding drive will include collection boxes and QR codes that will be displayed throughout both domestic and international terminals.
The two major airlines are calling for “more effective” regulation of Australia’s airports, with Qantas in particular branding them “effectively unregulated monopoly infrastructure” and Virgin saying they impose “inefficient costs on the travelling public”.
Customers have been able to accrue points since the frequent flyer scheme went live in October, and can now cash them in on Rex’s domestic and regional flights across its Australian network. Seats are available at “Anytime”, “Getaway” and “Ultimate” rates, in order from highest to lowest cost.
In an update on Tuesday morning, the airport confirmed its runway is “clear and serviceable” following the severe flooding in the wake of Cyclone Jasper that left aircraft partially underwater and forced the aerodrome to close for the second time in four days.
