The initiative will make up part of a $139.9 million investment over a three-year period, alongside funding upgrades for Hobart airport, border facilities in Newcastle, and western Sydney’s international airports.

The “DroneGun MKIII” device can make enemy drones fly back to their operator or land on the spot. It’s also able to shut down any live video the aircraft is shooting. 

The close air support exercise, led by RAAF’s 4 Squadron, was conducted in locations around the Hunter Region and RAAF Base Williamtown in NSW.

The interline service agreement, first announced earlier this year, means passengers can connect between the airlines and use a single bag drop.

The drones will in November take off from the supermarket’s car park and fly direct to customers’ homes in a major milestone for the technology.

The tech, which was created in conjunction with Australian X-Ray business Micro-X, will allow passengers to be scanned with their belongings, removing the need to unpack them all onto a conveyer belt.
