As originally reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, Qantas last week terminated 30 roles at its Mascot location to simplify its management structure. The Australian Services Union said it was told that those roles would be replaced by AI, which the airline says is not the case.

With the intention of replacing its current platform, CASA has invited technology firms and suppliers to showcase the AI capabilities of digital asset management platforms, as first reported by iTnews.

The airline has launched a “generative AI assistant for senior corporate teams with tailored training to drive productivity”, and said it will be rolling out new AI capabilities over the next 12 months.

In an update on the ASX, the Flying Kangaroo said it was still working to validate the individual and added it had also engaged the Australian Federal Police.

The international IT shutdown in July 2024 — dubbed the world’s biggest ever — was caused by a bungled software update issued by the cyber security provider.

The third-party employees were working for India SATS – the Flying Kangaroo’s ground handler in India – and used their positions to steal frequent flyer points from customers.
