Air Vice-Marshal Darren Goldie, a former Hercules pilot, will move from being Air Commander to the nation’s first cyber security coordinator.
The defence, aviation and critical services firm has taken office space in Engineering House at 11 National Circuit, Barton, giving it easy access to government customers and industry stakeholders around Capital Hill. The office will support its recent winning high-frequency communications upgrade (JP9101) bid as well as corporate services.
No. 9 Squadron was originally formed in 1939 as a fleet cooperation unit working with seaplanes and served during World War II in the Mediterranean Sea.
Slated for the weekend of 18 and 19 November, the Air Force Newcastle Williamtown Air Show 2023 will feature flying displays over Newcastle beaches and rivers on the Saturday, followed by a ticketed ground display at RAAF Base Williamtown on the Sunday.
Personnel and aircraft are scheduled to be deployed to RAAF Base Townsville for Exercise High Sierra 23-1 from 12 June to 6 July. Pilots and crew will need to successfully operate away from a main operating base, plan and execute a large force employment scenario, and deliver explosive ordnance into the weapons range. Successful fast jet pilots will graduate to the 81 Wing.
Personnel from RAAF No. 11 Squadron and their five squadron counterparts took part in the Exercise Albatross AusIndo, one of three annual training exercises the RAAF conducts with the Indonesian Air Force.
