Black Hawk helicopters are replacing Australia’s MRH-90 Taipan helicopters following the crash of an MRH-90 in Queensland during Exercise Talisman Sabre on 28 July and the subsequent grounding of the aircraft.
Rosebank Engineering has previously provided maintenance, repair, and overhaul support to the RAAF on F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet (retired) and in-service F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft.
In particular, the two organisations will collaborate on the discovery of digital engineering technologies, AI and machine learning.
The incident in March, which saw Defence’s entire Taipan fleet grounded, has been found to have been caused by a faulty engine part. Reports have confirmed, however, that the engines on the Taipan that crashed near Lindeman Island in July were both “running normally”.
Australian Army personnel have deployed from Townsville and Brisbane, alongside two Royal Australian Air Force C-130J aircraft, as part of Defence’s support to the Australian government’s response to the Hamas–Israel conflict.
In total, more than 400 ADF personnel trained with troops from Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom for Exercise Bersama Lima 2023.
