Exercise Sea Dragon 25 in March saw Australia work with military contingents such as the US Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Republic of Korea Navy and Indian Navy to practice co-ordinated anti-sub warfare, including joint P-8A Poseidon aircraft sorties with US forces.
This achievement reportedly underscores Australia’s growing role in sustaining one of the world’s most advanced defence capabilities.
Hundreds of heavy-duty composite mats, sourced under Babcock’s ADF Ground Support Equipment contract, will be included in the upcoming shipment. This follows a successful trial conducted by the Royal Australian Air Force in 2024.
The agreement strengthens the collaborative efforts of two of the nation’s key defence players in what has been billed as one of Australia’s most significant aviation programs.
Over the next two weeks, ADF sailors, soldiers and aviators will work alongside military forces from Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK to undertake scenarios focused on the defence of Malaysia and Singapore, across multiple domains.
The mission earlier this month saw a C-27J Spartan from 35 Squadron deploy from RAAF Base Amberley to carry two loads of fuel, totalling 28 drums, from Longreach Airport to the town of Windorah at the request of the Queensland government.
