The first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the facility will become a regional hub for the maintenance and sustainment of aircraft for the Australian Defence Force.
Under the contract, PteroDynamics will deliver P4 Transwing UAS aircraft, plus training and support, with the option for RAN to purchase larger P5 Transwing UAS systems for delivery starting in 2027.

The exercises involved a UH-60M Black Hawk flying through Melbourne’s CBD to ensure readiness in the event of a terrorist incident. Pilots, aircrew, and ground staff were also provided with specialised training in order to maintain “world-class capabilities”.
