Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Delta and British Airways are among 16 airlines that could be hit with cancellations and delays next Wednesday, as all are serviced at Sydney by Ampol.
The Sydney Gateway project has been opening in stages since November, with the final stage to open on 1 September. The NSW government said the five kilometres of new roads around the airport will save an estimated 17 minutes between the terminals and the St Peters interchange.
Sydney saw around 9.7 million passengers in Q2 2024, including 3.8 million international and 6 million domestic passengers, with total passenger traffic up 6.4 per cent on Q2 of 2023.
Australia’s second largest airport saw a total of 35,127,967 travellers, including 11 million international and 24 million domestic, in FY24, up 14 per cent on FY23. International is now 96 per cent recovered on 2019 levels, with domestic at 93 per cent.
The project, supported by $60 million in federal government funding, will enable Hobart to handle international flights using wide-body aircraft such as the 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350.
Darwin Airport’s owner, Airport Development Group (ADG), is revising its Conditions of Use (COU) charges for the airport from 1 August. The airport shares runways with RAAF Base Darwin.
