The arrival of 50th carrier Vietjet this morning comes months after the airport’ CEO, Geoff Culbert, said international travel was still “lagging behind” and called on airlines to put on more services.
The airport, which received $121 million in Federal Government grants to upgrade its airfield and terminals, has enlisted CBA as the sole financier for capital projects not covered by the grants, such as at its Astra Aerolab defence and aerospace precinct.
Billed as the largest industrial project in the airport’s history, the new 26,120 sqm office and warehouse complex will host more than 120 courier franchises.
The Flying Kangaroo's response comes after WA Tourism Minister Roger Cook said the refusal to switch terminals was damaging the state's tourism.
Around 12,000 passengers per day are using the link, which is far shorter than forecasts of 20,000 apparently claimed by Premier Mark McGowan.
The computer glitch affected systems for Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways and Aerlink at the Domestic Terminal, with check-in staff manually processing these bags.
