Virgin Australia will ban use and charging of power banks on board from 1 December, with Qantas and Jetstar to follow as of 15 December. The airlines had initiated a review of their power bank policies following a fire on board a Virgin flight in July.
The state government will hold 22 public consultation sessions in coming weeks, as well as speak to councils, industry stakeholders, and local MPs, to ensure “a broad range of perspectives” inform the process of preparing for the next aviation services contracts.
The new class will be operating on Emirates’ daily flights, EK420/421 between Perth and Dubai, making the service a now four-class cabin in a way the airline says will enhance the flying experience for travellers.
Speaking exclusively to Australian Aviation, Malaysia Aviation Group's chief commercial officer, airline business, Dersenish Aresandiran, said the carrier wants to improve the cabin experience for Australian passengers travelling to and from Kuala Lumpur.
The Flying Kangaroo’s new domestic aircraft, which will replace its older 737-800s, are commencing Brisbane services as of Monday 17 November. Initially operating one return service per day, Qantas expects the A321XLR to expand its presence in Brisbane as more of the aircraft arrive.
Operating over the winter and spring months from 22 June to 23 October 2026, the service will fly three times per week on A320neo aircraft, offering a total of 17,560 additional seats between Queensland and the South Island.
