Queensland Air Museum, based in Caloundra, is one of 16 organisations receiving grants of up to $1,000 as part of the airport’s inaugural $15,000 Community Support Fund.

Registered VH-8D3, the helicopter, owned and operated by Babcock Australasia, will replace an existing Bell 412 in the State Rescue Helicopter Service (SRHS) as part of a $150 million, four-year contract extension.

The airline’s new safety video stands in contrast to one released by Qantas earlier this year, which was loaded with location shots but criticised for not having any scenes on an actual aircraft.

Ninety-two per cent of workers participated in the ballot which opened last week, voting unanimously in favour of strikes, which would allow around 50 refuelling employees at Sydney Airport to take action in coming weeks and months absent a fresh deal by Ampol.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said that while the government cannot “wish away” the years spent in deadlocked negotiations over the station design, she is pleased that the airport has now relented.

The historic aircraft, built at Douglas’ Santa Monica plant in May 1935, will be restored and displayed at the museum at Shellharbour Airport in NSW, though is not expected to fly again at this stage.
