The average cost of business class tickets has continued to trend downwards after Virgin Australia dropped its cheapest business fares to just $299.

The high comes off the back of the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix and the Easter and Anzac Day holiday weekends.

Virgin stated it is aware of the legal proceedings, however “does not expect any financial consequence to the company from these proceedings”, as it was extinguished of any such responsibility during its sale to Bain Capital in November 2020.

A Virgin Australia-branded Boeing 777-300ER widebody jet was ferried from Wellcamp to Brisbane on Thursday, marking the first time the jet has taken to skies in over 19 months.

The newly-upgraded seat provides passengers with more leg room, wider television screens, and a service that would “rival many airlines’ business offering”, according to Emirates.

Poor visibility which caused a “wall of cloud” may have contributed to a fatal helicopter accident at Mount Disappointment, north of Melbourne, which killed five people in March.
