Emirates has renewed its push to hire Australian long-haul international cabin crew, as part of a global recruitment campaign.

The airline has confirmed that it now has a date set for the delivery of its first 737 MAX jet – a key step in its Air Operator’s Certificate application process – in the coming months, however this date is “slightly later than first expected”, hence the delay in its intended launch.

Qantas has been required to update its processes for parking and preparing its 787 Dreamliner fleet for flights, after a freight flight flew from Melbourne to Los Angeles with four of its static ports taped over.

A media appearance by the former chairman of Virgin Australia, in which she said Virgin was “over-leveraged” ahead of entering voluntary administration, has been raised as evidence in an ongoing class-action suit by former bondholders.

Speaking at a Coalition campaign launch in Brisbane on Sunday, Morrison stated that, if elected, the party will bolster Australia’s Loyal Wingman fleet by “a further seven aircraft”.

A total of 426,937 passengers passed through Auckland, the largest airport in the country, in March this year, as opposed to the 500,944 travellers that did so one year earlier.
