The first production Trent XWB turbofan for the Airbus A350 has entered final assembly at Rolle-Royce.
The engine is destined for service on launch customer Qatar Airways’ first A350 which is due to be delivered by the end of the year, and is the first of more than 1,600 Trent XWBs already on order, making it the largest selling member of the Trent family of engines.

“Starting final assembly of the first Trent XWB to go into service with Qatar Airways is an important milestone and the beginning of an exciting journey for the engine this year,” said Chris Young, Rolls-Royce Trent XWB Programme Director in a statement. “The development programme has been very robust and on schedule all the way.”
The Trent XWB is the exclusive engine for the A350 program.
