Airbus continues a flow of order announcements from Asian carriers at this week’s Aviation Expo in Beijing, with Vietnam’s VietJetAir signing an MoU for up to 92 A320s. The carrier will also lease eight more from third party lessors.
The purchase agreement covers for 56 A320s and six A321s, plus 30 purchase rights for additional A320 family aircraft.

VietJetAir is an existing A320 operator, with eight leased aircraft already in service. The carrier recently took delivery of its ninth A320, delivered new from Airbus via the US leasing company AWAS.
Beginning operations in late 2011, VietJetAir is the first privately-owned airline in Vietnam to operate domestic and international flights. Today the airline’s network covers 11 destinations within Vietnam and services to Bangkok.
