The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has established its first F-15SG squadron at Mountain Home AFB in the US state of Idaho.
The 428th Fighter Training Squadron, a combined USAF/RSAF unit whose aircraft wear Mountain Home (MO) tail codes, will operate 10 F-15SGs, which are advanced derivatives of the USAF’s F-15E Strike Eagle. Singapore has ordered 20 F-15SGs, and about 250 Singaporean personnel and their families will rotate through Mountain Home as part of their training regimes.

“It is a very exciting opportunity for us in a couple of ways,” said the USAF’s Col John Bird. “One, operationally, we get to train with one of our most important partners in the Pacific region, and two, we get to enjoy a really good cultural experience.”
Singapore has a number of training and operational units based overseas, including Pearce and Oakey in Australia, due to severe airspace restrictions around the island state.
