For all fans of the venerable DHC-4 Caribou, plans are underway to fly the aircraft owned by the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) to the Caboolture Warplane Museum’s “Antique Aircraft Day” in Caboolture on November 18. It is planned for the Caribou to be in Caboolture from November 16-19 in support of this event.
On behalf of HARS, Caribou Cargo is co-ordinating the first PEEK-A-BOU exercise, which Caribou Cargo’s Paul Strike hopes will help retain the aircraft’s presence at air events around Australia.

“The Caribou is a wonderful aircraft and has provided the Australian public with over 45 years of dedicated service both at work in defence and emergency services and at play with amazing performances at air shows,” Strike said.
“With this fundraising effort in support of HARS, we hope we can simply have the aircraft available for Australians to remain enchanted by this historic aircraft and to make sure it retains its rightful place as one of the most celebrated airlift aircraft in Australia’s aviation history.”

Based on the success of this first event, it is hoped similar such exhibitions of the aircraft can be organised to multiple locations each year so that all Australians can stay in touch with this beloved aircraft.
