A400M clears low-speed takeoff trials

written by australianaviation.com.au | March 25, 2011
The A400M undergoes Vmu trials.

Airbus Military’s A400M transport has completed a series of tests to verify its minimum unstick speed, or Vmu.

Designed to test the lowest speed at which an aircraft can takeoff, the A400M has its nose raised as a special bumper bar fitted to the fuselage deliberately struck the ground at a maximum pitch-up angle of 13º.

The trials were conducted at Le Tubé Air Base in Istres, France.
