Jetstar will fly daily between Western Sydney and the Gold Coast when the new airport opens later this year.
The low-cost carrier, which initially planned to fly four times per week to the Gold Coast starting 25 October, says it has seen strong demand that has prompted it to increase its services to daily, two months before WSI opens to passenger traffic.

Jetstar is also set to launch up to 14 weekly Melbourne and three weekly Brisbane flights from WSI, all operated by its A320 fleet.
“Western Sydney has been waiting a long time for low fares on its doorstep and we’re glad to be the airline that’s bringing them,” said Jetstar CEO Steph Tully.
“Jetstar customers love the Gold Coast. Whether it’s the theme parks, the beaches or a few days away with the family, there’s now a flight every day of the week to get you there.
“Western Sydney is one of the fastest-growing parts of the country, and we’ll keep looking at where we can add more low fare flights for the region.”
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said the announcement reflects “the strong opportunities Sydney’s new 24-hour global gateway offers airlines and their customers”.
“We’re really rounding the home stretch as we prepare to welcome our inaugural passengers on October 25,” he said.
“It’s terrific to see Jetstar boost the frequency of their services before our operations have even commenced, which highlights the level of excitement and interest in WSI.
“WSI is proud to be home in Western Sydney – one of the nation’s most diverse and fastest growing regions that’s home to more than 170 ancestries across communities who love to travel.
“We’re delighted to be giving all of Greater Sydney more choice and flexibility on where, where and how they choose to fly.”
In a statement, Gold Coast Airport also welcomed the move, saying it shows the popularity of the region as a holiday hotspot for Western Sydney.
“Increasing capacity before a route has even commenced is a strong vote of confidence in the Gold Coast, reflecting the significant demand for travel between our region and the Sydney basin,” the airport said.
“We look forward to welcoming the first flight from Western Sydney International on 25 October, marking an exciting new chapter and giving travellers even more choice on one of Australia’s busiest aviation corridors.”
Jetstar will be the first passenger airline to operate from WSI, followed by Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines, with Vietjet and QantasLink joining in subsequent months. Cargo operations began in July.
