Alliance Aviation Services CEO and managing director Stewart Tully has resigned after more than 11 years with the company.

Tully – appointed as CEO in 2024 – will be replaced by aviation veteran Steven Greenway, who has previously worked at companies including Flyadeal, WestJet and Scoot. The transition comes following a renegotiation of Alliance’s E190 wet-leasing contract with Qantas.

“It has been a privilege to work with Alliance’s talented people, experienced leadership team, long-term customers and valued partners. I am proud of what our people have achieved and confident in the company’s future,” said Tully.

In an ASX release, Alliance chair James Jackson thanked Tully for his leadership, pointing to his expansion and diversification of operations, strengthening of long-term customer relationships, and investment in fleet and engineering capability.

“Stewart has made an outstanding contribution to Alliance over many years, having led the business through a challenging period and strengthened its strategy and operations,” he said.

“The Board thanks Stewart for his leadership and appreciates his willingness to stay on to facilitate an orderly leadership transition.”

Jackson also welcomed Greenway, who has more than 25 years of aviation experience and most recently served as CEO of Saudia’s low-cost arm Flyadeal.

“The Board is confident Steven is the right person to lead Alliance through the next phase of its strategy as a FIFO-focused specialist aviation provider, and to build on the company’s strong operational, commercial and cultural foundations,” said Jackson.

“We look forward to working closely with Steven and the management team to strengthen the business and deliver sustainable returns for shareholders.”

In a statement, Greenway said, “I am excited by the opportunity to lead Alliance and look forward to working with the Board, leadership team and wider Alliance team as we continue to strengthen the business and deliver outstanding service, safety and reliability for our customers.”

Alliance earlier this month told the ASX there will be a “staged reduction from 30 aircraft to 23 aircraft [in the QantasLink agreement] over the course of FY27”, as well as a “meaningful increase in pricing” and a revised annual price escalation mechanism.

The renegotiation of the contract was signalled late last year due to unexpected high costs; the company had recorded a $105.8 million loss in the back half of 2025, having written down the value of its ageing Fokker 70 and 100 jets.
