Max Hazelton has relinquished the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Hazelton Airlines, becoming instead Deputy Chairman of the company. Hazelton’s General Manager Rod Nelson has assumed executive management of the company, becoming the Principal Executive Officer. Laurel Hazelton has also relinquished her role as an executive director to become a non-executive director. Peter Harris has been appointed the Department of Transport’s new head of aviation policy, while Paul Merner has been appointed head of the DoT’s newly created aviation operations section. Boeing Commercial Airplane Group has appointed Tom Schick its Executive Vice President, while Dan Heidt has been appointed to the new position of Senior Vice President Airplane Components. Jim Kennedy and Trevor Eastwood have joined the Qantas board. Also at Qantas from December 1 Gordon Howlett becomes Executive General Manager National Operations and Colin Hughes becomes Group General Manager International Operations. Qantas’ new Marketing Communications Manager is Ken Rosebury, who replaces Peter McLaughlin who is now Qantas Marketing Manager in the Americas. Kim Morrison has been appointed General Counsel for AirServicesAustralia. Bob Ayling is to become British Airways’ Chief Executive from Jan 1, replacing Sir Colin Marshall who will continue as Chairman.

Federal Airports Corporation has posted a 36.5% increase in operating profit to a record $128.3m for the 1992/93 financial year, on revenue of $505m (refer Airline Affairs item for further details). British Airways has announced a pre-tax profit of £430m ($A896m) for the six months to September 30, up 23.2% on the restated £349m reported a year ago. Group after-tax profit was £323m ($A673m), operating profit was £523m ($A1090m). Revenue was up 6.5% to £4.03bn ($A8.4bn). Singapore Airlines’ operating profit for the six months ended September 30 was $S528m ($A523m), a 10.5% increase over the same period in 1994. Revenue increased $S134m ($A133m) or 4.5% to $S3.1bn ($A3.1bn).
