Coastwatch Contract Ushers in a New Era of Surveillance Capability
December 1 Saw Yet Another Stage Begin in the Evolution of Australia’s Coastwatch Operation With the Long Awaited Release of a Request for Tender (Rft) to Cover a New Look Surveillance Operation From 1995 Right Through Till 2005.
Coastwatch is the civilian agency operating as a unit of Customs charged with protecting from incursion Australia’s 20,000km of coastline. The agency also provides support for a number of related Government departments and specialist agencies that pool their financial resources to provide an annual operating budget in the region of $22m.
