Regional Airline News

Air Midwest commenced regional airline services in October 1992 with a three times weekly service on the route from Moree to Goondiwindi and Brisbane. On August 13 commuter operations were suspended though the company continued to be actively engaged in charter flying. Air Midwest however is planning to resume regional airline services in mid November with Toowoomba being an addition to its route network. Airlines of Tasmania Heron VH-KAM departed Auckland on August 21 on its return ferry flight to Launceston on termination of its lease to Vincent Aviation. VH-KAM later returned to service after being repainted in the current Air- lines of Tasmania colour scheme.

Eastern Australia Airlines returned Jetstream VH-TQJ to service in late September in a temporary all white paint scheme. This was as a result of a recent announcement that regional airlines within the Qantas Group will now adopt the colour scheme carried by the parent airline instead of the previously mooted ‘milk bottle’ look (refer pics p23 Oct 93 AA). EMB-110 Bandeirante VH-WDF was withdrawn from service at Tamworth on September 27 with Eastern now using leased Oxley Airlines Beech 99 aircraft on the route from Newcastle to Sydney. DHC-8-102 VH-TQF is planned for delivery to Tamworth from Canada in late October. Flight West Airlines has sold its BN-2A-26 VH-XFF to North West Aviation Services.
