Wanaka on the Wing

The crackle of Merlins, an Allison, Pratt and Whitney radials and various other high powered engines including jets will be heard during Easter 1994 when the now world famous bi-annual airshow takes place at Wanaka, on New Zealand’s south island.

Already scheduled for the two day show, better known as Wings over Wanaka, are the P-40 Kittyhawk, Corsair, Vampire, Venom, Sea Fury, Mustang, T-28 Trojan, Cessna Dragonfly, Zero replica (guess what gets shot down during the dogfight sequence?) Harvards and a TBM Avenger. Possible others are a Spitfire and WWII German and Russian warbirds. The NZ Harvard aerobatic team will also be performing. Other aircraft to attend are Chipmunks, Tiger Moths, Austers C-47 and Devon transports. If 1994 is anything like 1992 the flying display will conclude with a spectacular mock attack of the airfield that can only be described as real Hollywood special effects material.
