Battle for Schofields Looks Lost:

It now appears more than likely that the Dept of Defence will sell the HMAS Nirimba site at Schofields to non-aviation interests rather than retain the site for GA use.

In discussions with AOPA’s Tony Wilkinson, Defence Minister Robert Ray reiterated that the sale must provide three clear objectives. Firstly it must provide a reasonable financial return, must allow development of a facility of benefit to the general community and lastly to provide a boost to local employment.
