Update Fokker 70

In the last financial year, Boeing sold seven 737-500s, BAe sold nine 146s, ATR ten -72s and Airbus six A319s

Against these rival aircraft in the 65 to 120 seat regional transport class, Fokker sold 22 of their 70 and 100 series jetliners. Against such competition, the Dutch manufacturer, which is now part of the Deutsche Aerospace Group, is confident of continuing to make a major impact on the regional jetliner market with its Fokker 70 and 100 products. The Fokker 100, which was launched in 1986 by Swissair, has been a major success for the company having achieved 260 firm with a further 115 options from 28 customers. The twinjet was the first in a series of aircraft that Fokker has named the Jetliner fleet, ultimately comprising the 107 seat 100, the 79 seat 70 and the still to be launched 125 seat Fokker 130.

As carriers strive to minimise the costs of operating what have traditionally been diverse fleets, the Jetliner range has been based on the family concept offering the opportunity for regional airlines to standardise their fleets based on common type ratings and commonality of components.
