In its submission to the draft plan, Airlines for Australia and New Zealand (A4ANZ) said it had “significant concerns” about the proposed legislation, including the Draft Aviation Consumer Protections Charter, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Extended until 2031 with an extra $122 million government investment, the RAZC scheme will see some “high-demand” fares increase, while “low-demand” fares will remain the same. According to the state government, this will help ensure the scheme’s sustainability into the future.

The new agreement seeks to collaborate on counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) technology and marks Visionary Machines’ first milestone in establishing in-country sales of its Pandion Sentinel C-UAS system, addressing regional security and strategies in the Asia-Pacific area.

The airline has warned that the route “requires a level of government support to remain viable”, and is currently only offering bookings for reduced services between King Island and mainland Tasmania in the 2026-27 peak, as reported by the King Island Courier.

According to an email alert sent out by Scamwatch, scammers are masquerading as the Flying Kangaroo in emails and text messages that “create a sense of urgency to try and get you to act quickly without checking first”.
