RotorTech 2028 has been confirmed for Cairns, with the biennial helicopter and uncrewed flight exposition to be held from 9-11 May.
The expo, to be hosted at the Cairns Convention Centre, will open for exhibition and sponsorship opportunities next year. It follows a successful show in 2026, with 125 exhibiting companies attending the Gold Coast event in May.

“RotorTech has continued to grow in scale and ambition, with the 2026 event attracting more than 2,400 attendances, 125 exhibiting companies and representation from 21 nations,” said AMDA Foundation CEO Justin Giddings.
“The larger footprint at the Cairns Convention Centre will allow us to accommodate more exhibitors and create room for the event to continue expanding in line with industry demand.”
The event was originally slated for Brisbane, and Queensland’s Assistant Minister for Tourism, Early Learning, Creative Industries and Far North Queensland Bree James said the move was “a significant win for Cairns and the broader region”.
“Hosting RotorTech 2028 in Cairns reinforces North Queensland’s reputation as a world-class destination for major business events,” he said.
“The conference will bring together industry leaders from across Australia and internationally, delivering valuable economic benefits for local businesses while showcasing the region’s outstanding visitor experiences, industry capability and event infrastructure.”
According to Cairns Convention Centre general manager Janet Hamilton, the centre is “delighted” to host RotorTech in 2028.
“RotorTech brings the vertical flight community together, and we are looking forward to hosting its exhibition, conferences and networking events in the heart of Cairns, with the city’s hotels, restaurants and waterfront just a short walk away.
“Our team takes great pride in hosting major national and international industry events, and we look forward to working closely with AMDA Foundation to deliver an outstanding RotorTech 2028 and show delegates why Cairns is such an inspiring place to meet and do business.”
RotorTech is held every two years, alternating with the Avalon airshow.
