Jetstar has launched Australia’s first direct seasonal flights to Cebu in the Philippines.
The inaugural JQ101 service took off from Brisbane on Wednesday aboard A321neo LR VH-OYW, with three return flights to operate every week, increasing to four between the end of January and the end of March. It follows the launch of Perth–Manila flights at the end of November.

“As demand for international travel continues to rise, our expanding fleet is allowing us to deliver more low fares to exciting new destinations,” Jetstar chief executive Stephanie Tully said.
“We’re thrilled to be the first low-cost carrier to connect Brisbane directly to Cebu, giving Aussies an affordable and easy way to experience this incredible destination.
“And with the Christmas holidays marking one of our busiest travel periods of the year, it’s an especially exciting time for Jetstar as we welcome more customers onboard to celebrate the season.”
The Brisbane–Cebu route is expected to add more than 37,000 seats per year between Australia and the Philippines; when combined with Perth–Manila, this adds up to a total of around 109,000 seats.
According to Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff, Cebu brings Brisbane to 35 international destinations.
“We are delighted to welcome this new service to Brisbane Airport, creating a new direct link between Australia and Cebu and strengthening our connection with the Philippines just in time for the busy holiday travel period,” he said.
“The addition of this service will also be welcomed by Queensland’s large Filipino community, making it easier to connect with family, while boosting trade and business opportunities between our two regions.”
Brisbane–Cebu is Jetstar’s 13th new domestic or international route this year, with other destinations including Rarotonga and Queenstown, and will operate until 16 May.
“The launch of the Brisbane to Cebu route is part of Jetstar’s commitment to giving travellers more choice than ever before – more destinations, more aircraft, and more opportunities to take off more, for less,” the airline said.
“The airline’s growth is supported by significant investment in its next-generation fleet, including state-of-the-art Airbus A321LR and A320neo aircraft, as well as a major refresh of its 787 fleet, providing customers with more in-flight comfort and choice.”
The low-cost carrier began a major push to increase international flights from Brisbane in 2023, and last year became the airport’s second biggest international airline after Qantas.
