There are nine individual and 11 group award categories for entrants to choose from and submit into this year.

Submit an entry or nominate a worthy colleague or business by Friday, 22 March 2024, for your chance to be recognised for your achievements.

Individual categories cover the best aerospace technical specialists, cyber technicians or specialists, and maritime technical specialists (among others). All entrants must be under 35 years of age.

For the group categories, we are asking a range of businesses to enter, including those who provide the best employee incentive programs or initiatives, best environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs, best new parent programs, best veteran support programs, and best wellness programs.

Why enter the awards

By submitting into the awards, entrants could elevate themselves and/or their business above their competitors and carve a niche in Australia’s defence and national security industry.

For organisations, securing an award could distinguish them from their peers when attracting and retaining the best talent while strengthening their position when securing projects or contracts and reaffirming their role in advancing defence and national security and personnel across Australia.

Meanwhile, recognition for individuals could underpin career advancement while reaffirming their role in an organisation.

How finalists are shortlisted

All submissions undergo a thorough audit process, checking demographic and other information against category-eligible criteria based on the information provided in the submission.

Those submissions deemed eligible against submission criteria are reviewed and assessed by a panel of Momentum Media events and editorial team members and executives, plus industry stakeholders, where required, to determine the finalists for each category.

The number of finalists varies for each award category.

How winners are decided

An esteemed panel of judges that includes ex-senior ADF leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators will determine the winners of the inaugural awards, providing you with peer-reviewed national recognition of your capabilities and passion for propelling your industry forward.

Finalists’ submissions are delivered to the judging panel, which will assess each submission against the criteria of each award category.

The judges score each part of the submission across the category’s criteria, giving an aggregated score. A number of judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.

The combined judging scores for each submission for each category are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.
