PILOT SHORTAGE?
In pre-pandemic times, it has been said that there is a pilot shortage and that if one was to believe the adverts from some flight schools – then all you need is a commercial pilot’s licence, a pulse and you will be snapped up and very soon on the way to flying aircraft with the name Boeing or Airbus on the nose.
If we look at times before pilots were laid off or placed on short rosters, then yes, there was a pilot shortage in some areas. But my research suggests there are a number of factors that say some pilots are not considered employable despite the burgeoning call for talent.
