Aviation employment initiatives & critical insight
Insulating against the loss of skilled pilots is imperative
There are many unique regulatory factors that a pilot faces in remaining available to fly. Those are:
- Licencing;
- Proficiency; and
- Currency.
Unlike nearly any other industry, it is not as simple as climbing straight back into the pilot’s seat and taking off. Pilots need to fly regularly to stay current. Again, unlike most roles, pilots are required to undergo regular proficiency testing via a check flight or in a simulator. By regular I mean every three to six months for the entirety of their aviation careers. If they had to finance that testing themselves it would be an insurmountable task.
