Emil Cooper shot this Classic Hornet being farewelled by No. 77 Squadron over Nobbys Beach, Newcastle, on 10 December 2020. The aircraft in question, A21-39, was delivered to the RAAF in 1988, is the Commanding Officer’s and was flown on the day by Wing Commander Jason ‘Easty’ Easthope (CO of 77SQN). It’s painted in a commemorative scheme that has been adapted over the years. It currently features five silhouetted hornets on the outside edge of the vertical stabilisers with the text ’1987 2020’ and ’33 years hornet’ below it.
