From the archives: When Qantas flew Perth to London in the longest hop

To mark the first of three Project Sunrise nonstop research flights from New York to Sydney, this story from the Australian Aviation archives comes from May 2018, when Gerard Frawley wrote about the experience of being on Qantas’s inaugural Perth to London Heathrow nonstop service.

When Qantas Flight 9 touched down in London at the end of its historic nonstop flight from Perth a little after 5am local time on Sunday March 25, the remarkable had been made to seem routine.
