As Australian Aviation goes to print, Bonza remains in voluntary administration, battling to stay alive. Here, though, is a fantastic shot of VH-UKH in Townsville taken from the air by David Parer. The aircraft, named Malc, was christened after Bonza operations manager Malcolm Handley, who sadly died in February 2023.
The RAAF Roulettes fly above the MCG before the AFL game between Essendon and Collingwood on ANZAC Day. The Roulettes fly in PC-21s, which double up as the Air Force’s trainer of choice, uniquely allowing Top Guns to undertake the bulk of their training in one aircraft and prepare them for future missions in the F-35. Australia currently has 49, and they’re expected to serve until 2042. (Cpl Michael Currie, Defence)
This incredible shot shows two US Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons during a display in Arizona in March. The pair are flown by the Thunderbirds, the legendary team formed in 1953 and last seen in Australia during 2023’s Pacific Airshow in the Gold Coast. (US DoD, Air Force Airman 1st Class Mason Hargrove)
