Training Day
New methodology and technology promises a step-change in RAAF C-130J aircrew and maintainer training
In the last 18 months, the RAAF’s 285 Squadron (part of 84 Wing) has introduced wholesale changes to how it prepares aircrew, loadmasters and technicians to fly, operate and maintain the Lockheed Martin C-130J. Working with CAE and other industry partners, this Training Remediation Program (TRP) has seen the adoption of an array of synthetic training devices that accelerate learning and free up live airframes for operations.
A parallel development sees the squadron showing how the future will look by participating in a growing number of integrated, live and virtual training as part of multi-service, joint and coalition exercises, such as Coalition Virtual Flag ’15 last year.
